BB – We are talking today about “Ordinary Matters”
So JT What does that title bring up to your mind? ((JT ANSWERS))
- Bob – POINT: It seems people get discontented over being ordinary but God points us to being ordinary in our consistency in serving Him.
1 Corinthians 15:58 (ESV) — 58 Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.

- JT – This is the PowerBreak Podcast, I’m JT along with Bob Brubaker and this is the –– time for some questions and answers. Feel free to submit your questions by EMAIL TO jtrebino@mac.com and we’ll get to the answer on an upcoming PowerBreak. Podcast…
JT – Question ONE - FROM THE SPIRITUAL SIDE OF LIFE….
Please explain OR as you say, “EXPLAINIFY” HOW WE CAN BE EXTRAODINARY AND ORDINARY at the same time.
- Bob
The answer boils down to this – God takes us from being ordinarily away from Him, gives us a new heart and brings us to repent of our OLD ordinary ways – to a new life in CHRIST to a new ordinary… which Paul outlined in 1st Corinthians 15.
1 Corinthians 15:58 (ESV) — 58 Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.
DISCUSSION
- JT – Question Two… “FROM THE MENTAL ASPECT”
How can we mentally bring ourselves to thinking about an ORDINARY lifestyle.
- Bob
Ephesians 4:21–29 (ESV) — 21 assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus, 22 to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, 23 and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, 24 and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness. 25 Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another. 26 Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, 27 and give no opportunity to the devil. 28 Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in need. 29 Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.
- Discussion
- Third question … Turning to the Physical
Does lying in your back and elevating your legs help in recovery after a long workout?
- Bob ---
A friend of mine who is not a cyclist nor a fan of cycling happened to be in France on business and had no knowledge the tour de France actually finished a stage in the city where he was staying. In fact, he obliviously ventured into the hotel one evening to find hall after hall filled with guys on their backs with their feet up the wall. He thought that was really weird and never understood what was going on….
For years it was believed that you could drain the lactic acid out of your muscles through elevation and reduce soreness the next day.
Today, it has been found that the lactic acid is good to have for the next day to get you going, hence you don’t need to nor want to drain lactic acid, because your body will make use of it through normal circulation.
Elevating your legs can feel good after a long workout of running or cycling simply because it enhances your circulation. One of the best ways is to implement recovery boots or legstaps that massage your legs to stimulate more circulation.
JT’s Comments
Take Aways – JT …. And Bob
Bob’s final comment – It takes discipline recover properly no matter what kind of workout you do and if you do long rides or runs, as crazy as you may look to other people to lie on your back with your feet elevated, it may feel pretty good.
Point: DISCIPLINE MAKES THE DIFFERENCE --- in all aspects of life
