JTQuestion ONE - FROM THE SPIRITUAL SIDE OF LIFE….

 

Why is being grateful and expressing gratitude so important spiritually?

 

  1. Bob

There is a reason God commands that we be grateful if we want to worship Him and if we want to commune with Him.

Psalm 100:4 (ESV) — 4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name!

Colossians 3:15 (ESV) — 15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.

Colossians 4:2 (ESV) — 2 Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 (ESV) — 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

After all, there is not a person who can actually say that they have achieved, earned, or been the cause of what they have. The truth is clear, we have what we have as a gift from God.

DISCUSSION

  1. JT – Question Two… “FROM THE MENTAL ASPECT”

How can we mentally bring ourselves into a state of gratitude?

  1. Bob

Count your blessings.

1 Corinthians 4:7 (ESV) — 7 For who sees anything different in you? What do you have that you did not receive? If then you received it, why do you boast as if you did not receive it?

In addition to spiritual health, consider the other benefits of gratitude…

Did you know that is good for you – physically, mentally, relationally, and very often financially?

Discussion

  1. Third question … Turning to the Physical

It may seem a little strange but I think you have proven it --  so here goes – how does an attitude of gratitude improve physical performance?

  1. Bob ---

Gratitude makes you feel better and when you feel better then you perfom better. Gratitude helps you get better sleep and if you sleep better you will perfom better. Gratitude helps to eliminate stickin thinkin of negative thoughts (((automatic negative thoughts or ANTS)) AND When you are thinking better, you will perform better.

Spiritually, mentally, and physical health are improved with gratitude.

JT’s Comments

 

Bob’s final comment – It takes discipline to be grateful and to be a grateful person but the benefits will touch all aspects of your life….

 

Point: DISCIPLINE MAKES THE DIFFERENCE --- in all aspects of life
