So JT What does that title bring up to your mind? ((JT ANSWERS))
- Bob – POINT: Trusting In the Lord is a basic premise in the Word of God. It all points to an utter dependency upon God.
Psalm 125:1 (ESV) — 1 Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever.

JT – Question ONE - FROM THE SPIRITUAL SIDE OF LIFE….
Cover the concept of trusting in the Lord and what all that means as you took us through Proverbs 3.
- Bob
Proverbs 3:5–10 (ESV) — 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. 7 Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. 8 It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones. 9 Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce; 10 then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine.
- Notice, if you are trusting in the Lord, it requires all your heart. That’s being totally “in” as a follower of Jesus Christ.
- Secondly, we are told that trusting in the Lord means you do whatever is necessary in leaning on your own understanding. This is total dependency. Nothing else will do.
- Thirdly, we are told that trusting in the Lord means we acknowledge Him in all our ways. In other words, we talk about Him and our utter dependency upon Him all the time as we count on Him to lead us through life. Of course, that means trusting in the Lord is accepting whatever pathway He has for us to walk because He knows what is best.
- Fourthly, trusting in the Lord means you accept His standard. If you are seeking to be close to Him to lead upon Him, it only makes sense that you would turn away from evil, or as said of Job, that he “eschewed evil.”
- Fifthly, trusting in the Lord is the place of refreshment and healing. Sixthly, trusting in the Lord means you honor Him with your substance. Actually, the two places where many people come up short in trusting in the Lord is in the way they handle their money and their time.
- If you are trusting in the Lord, then you have confidence in what He has said in His word. His word is very clear that we are to honor the Lord with a day and honor Him with the top of what we earn. Are you trusting in the Lord? Many honor Him with their lips but their hearts are far from Him, evident by the way they neglect what He has said.
DISCUSSION
- JT – Question Two… “FROM THE MENTAL ASPECT”
How can we mentally bring our selves into a state of trusting in the Lord?
- Bob
- Think about dependency.
- Think about depending upon the Lord. Vs. depending upon yourself --- or anyone else
- Think about how that dependency is expressed
- Think about the confidence of those who are. Trusting in the Lord
Isaiah 26:4 (ESV) — 4 Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.
Psalm 56:11 (ESV) — 11 in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can man do to me?
Psalm 118:6 (ESV) — 6 The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?
Isaiah 41:10 (ESV) — 10 fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Discussion
- Third question … Turning to the Physical
Let’s talk about the recent Joe Mercola article: The Truth About Muscle Growth: Why Your Body Needs Calories to Build Those Gains
- Bob --- Joseph Mercola is a functional medicine doc that is world renown in helping people “take control of their health.”
Here are some highlights of the article on Joe Mercola.com
- Optimal muscle growth depends on adequate calories and a balanced intake of proteins, carbs, and fats. Without consuming enough calories, your body can’t build or maintain muscle mass, no matter how hard you train
- Cutting calories by even 20% can reduce muscle protein synthesis by 16%, making it harder to build and maintain muscle
- Building muscle boosts your metabolism, improves body composition, enhances insulin sensitivity, and reduces the risk of chronic diseases
- After age 30, muscle mass declines rapidly, increasing health risks, making muscle maintenance crucial for longevity
- Consuming more than 1.8g of protein per kg body weight offers no additional muscle benefits and may lead to unnecessary protein oxidation
JT’s Comments
Bob’s final comment – It takes discipline to eat well and eat enough – to make sure you have sufficient nutrients especially if you are trying to lose weight.
Point: DISCIPLINE MAKES THE DIFFERENCE --- in all aspects of life
