BB – We are talking today about “HowThen Shall We Vote”
So JT What does that title bring up to your mind? ((JT ANSWERS))
- Bob – POINT: We can’t neglect the responsibility. We are to be good stewards of the gift that God has provided. Instead of shirking the responsibility or treating it lightly it would be best to seek God for help and to apply wisdom and research to vote intelligently.
James 1:5–6 (ESV) — 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.

- JT – This is the PowerBreak Podcast, I’m JT along with Bob Brubaker and this is the –– time for some questions and answers. Feel free to submit your questions by EMAIL TO JT@bobbrubaker.com and we’ll get to the answer on an upcoming PowerBreak. Podcast…
JT – Question ONE - FROM THE SPIRITUAL SIDE OF LIFE….
What’s wrong with not voting? Sometimes things look so confusing or as some people say, it’s not worth voting for any candidate on the ballot. What say you?
- Bob
How would you feel about an elected official who refused to vote on issues before him/her? You would feel like they are neglecting their duties, right.
Same thing…. Much blood was shed in giving us the right to vote and in keeping that right so it should not be taken lightly.
Even when you feel like your vote and someone else’s vote will cancel each other out or if you don’t like any candidate --- YOU STILL HAVE THE RESPONSIBILTY TO DO YOUR DUE DILLEGENCE IN PREPARING TO VOTE AND THEN VOTING.
Remember, God is the ultimate one to whom we must give account of our stewardship and He knows if we are taking this privilege for granted by not voting or voting without thinking or preparing. Since He has blessed us with this great privilege of which a great majority of people in the world do not have… then it makes sense if we are to live to His glory we will take serious this responsibility.
1 Corinthians 10:31 (ESV) — 31 So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
DISCUSSION
- JT – Question Two… “FROM THE MENTAL ASPECT”
What is an appropriate mental strategy we need to apply prepare for the outcome of elections, as when there is a distinct possibility that things do not turn out as we voted?
- Bob
God is in control. That does not mean we have NO responsibility or that it doesn’t matter how we approach things. It does because we answer to Him. Nevertheless, He is the one who brings the outcome for His purpose. His purposes are much higher than our thoughts or ways… in fact they are perfect.
Isaiah 55:8–9 (ESV) — 8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Deuteronomy 32:4 (ESV) — 4 “The Rock, his work is perfect, for all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness and without iniquity, just and upright is he.
Discussion
- Third question … Turning to the Physical
What have you heard about multivitamins and memory?
- Bob --- Steve Born, my friend at Hammer Nutrition wrote about it recently and YES there are several studies that show it does pay to take a multivitamin if you want to stay alert and keep the memory at its best.
A little over two years ago, Steve wrote about research whose results showed that participants who took a multivitamin/mineral supplement daily for three years were associated with a 60% slowing of cognitive aging. Summarizing the results, lead study researcher, Dr. Laura D. Baker, stated, "Daily multivitamin-mineral supplementation appears to slow cognitive aging by 60% or by 1.8 years,” and that the results “may have important public health implications, particularly for brain health, given the accessibility of multivitamins and minerals, and their low cost and safety.”
A second, more recent study using data from that same original study-- was performed, and the results linked the intake of a daily multivitamin supplement to better brain function, particularly improved memory.
The researchers summarize: "Vitamin supplementation is relatively inexpensive, accessible, and has a few adverse effects, and thus might be a potentially useful population health intervention. Daily multivitamin supplementation, compared with placebo, improves memory in older adults. Multivitamin supplementation holds promise as a safe and accessible approach to maintaining cognitive health in older age."
Once again, we can add to the “arsenal” of research that shows that daily use of a high-quality multivitamin/mineral supplement provides extraordinary, wide-ranging benefits.
JT comments
Bob’s final comment – It takes discipline to do what is necessary for good brain health including finding and taking a good multivitamin regularly.
Point: DISCIPLINE MAKES THE DIFFERENCE --- in all aspects of life
