BB –  We are talking today about  “BEHOLD WHAT LOVE”

So JT What does that title bring up to your mind? ((JT ANSWERS))

  1. Bob – POINT:  The Bible is very clear that God’s love toward us is so magnificent that we need His help just to begin to comprehend it.

Ephesians 3:14–19 (ESV) — 14 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, 16 that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

TODAY --- “BEHOLD WHAT LOVE”

  1. JT This is the PowerBreak Podcast, I’m JT along with Bob Brubaker and this is the –– time for some questions and answers. Feel free to submit your questions by EMAIL TO JT@bobbrubaker.com and we’ll get to the answer on an upcoming PowerBreak. Podcast…

JTQuestion ONE - FROM THE SPIRITUAL SIDE OF LIFE….

It sounds like taking on the impossible task of getting a grasp on God’s love it a worthy endeavor, even though without God’s help we get nowhere. What is the point?

  1. Bob

Good question. God is always presenting things for us to do that are utterly impossible without His help. But that is the point! God does not leave us without help. He’s our Father, rich in mercy… In fact….

Ephesians 2:4–7 (ESV) — 4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— 6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

God does lead us to do the impossible but that makes us realize how dependent we are upon Him. As we apply ourselves to seeking His help and seeking to understand …. In this case His love, it blows us over in how magnificent it is… BUT … gt this as. You do, you find yourself filled with the fullness of God.

Psalm 16:11 (ESV) — 11 You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

THAT MAKES EVERY EFFORT WORTHWHILE as you draw close to Him in utter dependency…. You find pleasure and the joy of His presence.

DISCUSSION

  1. JT – Question Two… “FROM THE MENTAL ASPECT”

What is an appropriate mental strategy should we have in our quest to understand the love of God?

  1. Bob

1 Peter 5:5–7 (ESV) — 5 Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” 6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, 7 casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

1 John 3:1–3 (KJV 1900) — 1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. 2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. 3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

Discussion

  1. Third question … Turning to the Physical

Let’s talk about improving cycling fitness. I know the principles will certainly apply to more than cycling but let’s use cycling as a launching pad to talking ways to improve fitness.

  1. Bob --- Thanks to Jim Rutberg from Carmichael Training System…
  • Building to four rides or workouts per week. That means building in the length and intensity of some of the rides. (workouts)
  • Get at least 1 interval workout in
  • Make sure you hydrate (too many neglect this and fail to improve.
  • Likewise, consume enough carbs….
  • Get enough sleep to help you recover and rebuild muscle
  • Sounds crazy but get enough food
  • Learn to ride indoors, with groups, as well as solo
  • Learn to pace off of “perceived exertion”
  • Keep things fun
  • Get a coach

What say you JT?

JT comments

Bob’s final comment – It takes discipline to apply ways to improve, especially the ones that require effort off the bike or away from the gym. BUT it will pay off in the long run…

Point: DISCIPLINE MAKES THE DIFFERENCE --- in all aspects of life

Closing statement Bob…. “check out today’s show notes at bobbrubaker.com and click on the PowerBreak podcast – today’s show is 315.
