BB –  We are talking today about  “Living In The Moment”

So JT What does that title bring up to your mind? ((JT ANSWERS))

  1. Bob – POINT: We all struggle with living in the moment because there are so many distractions. That  means we need discernment and help from God to redeem the time.

Ephesians 5:15–17 (ESV) — 15 Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

  1. JT ------ OK THEN LET’S TALK SOME MORE ABOUT THAT as we bring up… WHAT’S NEW –  as we open Bob’s recent blog from bobbrubaker.com …

  1. JT This is the PowerBreak Podcast, I’m JT along with Bob Brubaker and this is the –– time for some questions and answers. Feel free to submit your questions by EMAIL TO JT@bobbrubaker.com and we’ll get to the answer on an upcoming PowerBreak. Podcast…

  1. JTQuestion ONE - FROM THE SPIRITUAL SIDE OF LIFE….

It seems from what you are saying that living in the moment is as much a spiritual activity as anything else so why is that?

  1. Bob & JT discuss

Stewardship. Everything we have, every opportunity we have, is all from God. He places it in our hands and expects us to be good stewards of what He has provided.

1 Corinthians 4:2 (ESV) — 2 Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful.

We all have 180 yours a week to get done what we must and when we follow distractions from the tyranny of the urgent we are misusing our allotted time.

Worse than that you might say is how we are distracted when we talk to other people.

Think of how the time with your boys is wasted if you doing other things while talking to them.

If we live in the moment we seek to make the most of our time ….

If we live in the moment we seek to make the most of our relationships…

That takes discipline. Discipline like the Lord Jesus Christ….

And discipline like the wisdom from God requires and produces…

James 1:5–8 (ESV) — 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

Ephesians 5:15–17 (ESV) — 15 Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

A focused life is a power filled life…. And the way to be focused is disciplined about distractions… as there are so many time saving devices today but with those are many more distractsions…

Discipline says NO….for the temporary but focuses on the real goal.

  1. JT – Question Two… “FROM THE MENTAL ASPECT”

Let’s talk about practical ways to live in the moment – HOW do we apply ourselves  mentally.

  1. Bob & JT discuss

  1. Third question … Turning to the Physical

Bob: Normally JT, you would be the one asking me a question about the physical, but this time I wanna ask you about one of the new workouts you have been doing. Tell about the gym workout known as 100’s, and what are the benefits?

JT

You and I always talk about muscle adaptation and how to avoid plateaus in our workouts. 100’s are a great way to get out of a workout slump.

Multiple professional bodybuilders have used 100 rep sets to break out of training plateau’s.

Benefits:

- Permanently increases blood flow to muscles.

- Better oxygen and nutrient delivery to muscles.

- Proven to be effective at boosting muscle growth.

First 50 reps target slow twitch muscle fibers, as you approach failure over 50 reps,  fast twitch muscle fibers are effected.

Three different ways to use 100’s to boost your gym workouts.

1). Exclusively: Two to four weeks, at least 3 exercises per body part, 100 reps per exercise. After the two to four weeks, go back to normal.

2). Occasionally: Work it in to your current workout routine, targeting specific body parts that need work.

3). Time crunched: One exercise per body part. One set with 100 reps.

Basics:

- 3 to 4 exercises per body part. 100 reps per exercise. No warmup necessary.

- Ideally, you should start to reach failure between 60 and 70 reps.

- Use a weight that is approximately one-third of your 10 rep max.

- Pause for as many seconds as reps you have left. Example, failure at rep 75, pause for              25 seconds.

- When you can get past 70 reps without pause, move up in weight.

What do you think Bob?

  1. Bob & JT discuss

Any other thoughts JT?

Bob’s final comment – It takes discipline to apply yourself to doing 100’s but as JT mentioned there are many benefits… of course you may have to work your way there so you don’t hurt yourself.

Point: DISCIPLINE MAKES THE DIFFERENCE --- in all aspects of life
