- JT – Question ONE - FROM THE SPIRITUAL SIDE OF LIFE….
If the bottom line from your article is that we get really hacked off at life today because things happen to remind us that we are in control… what can we do to avoid the pitfall and the ramifications of getting so angry?
- Bob & JT discuss
- 7.What are the decrees of God?
A. The decrees of God are his eternal purpose, according to the counsel of his will, whereby, for his own glory, he hath foreordained whatsoever comes to pass. - 8.How doth God execute his decrees?
A. God executeth his decrees in the works of creation and providence. - 9.What is the work of creation?
A. The work of creation is God’s making all things of nothing, by the word of his power, in the space of six days, and all very good. - 10.How did God create man?
A. God created man male and female, after his own image, in knowledge, righteousness and holiness, with dominion over the creatures. - 11.What are God’s works of providence?
A. God’s works of providence are his most holy, wise and powerful preserving and governing all his creatures, and all their actions.
Isaiah 46:11 (ESV) — 11 calling a bird of prey from the east, the man of my counsel from a far country. I have spoken, and I will bring it to pass; I have purposed, and I will do it.
Daniel 4:34–35 (ESV) — 34 At the end of the days I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes to heaven, and my reason returned to me, and I blessed the Most High, and praised and honored him who lives forever, for his dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom endures from generation to generation; 35 all the inhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing, and he does according to his will among the host of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay his hand or say to him, “What have you done?”
Deuteronomy 32:4 (ESV) — 4 “The Rock, his work is perfect, for all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness and without iniquity, just and upright is he.
Romans 8:28 (ESV) — 28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:29–31 (ESV) — 29 For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30 And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified. 31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
1 Peter 1:3–9 (ESV) — 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, 5 who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, 7 so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 8 Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, 9 obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
Ephesians 4:26–27 (ESV) — 26 Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, 27 and give no opportunity to the devil.
- JT – Question Two… “FROM THE MENTAL ASPECT”
How can we prepare mentally to make sure we don’t fall into the trap of anger getting the best of us?
- Bob & JT discuss
Plan for it. Plan for facing disappointment, setbacks, attacks, etc.
Understand that nothing happens outside the persmissive will of God and He has a purpose for everything in your life.
((see the book of Job)))
God’s main purpose in your life is for you to be conformed to the image of Christ.
So things happen first of all for us to wake up to the fact that we are not in control so we should submit to the one who is in control --- as God brings us to hear understand and follow the Gospel
Then God is sanctifying us through life as the Holy Spirit applies the word of God to our needs of.growth and maturity in conformity … Hence as we grow and mature becoming more and more DEPENDENT UPON GOD then we are blown over much less by circumstances …
We aren’t perfect yet …. And won’t be …. Hence there is room for growth and be assured fits of anger only delay what God is doing but even that God uses for our good as He brings us to repent of the sin of anger and seek His. Help in going down any further on that road.
- Third question … Turning to the Physical
It’s that time of year, here in mid January when this program is released, that people take up training… so let’s help out those who are just taking up training or have recently returned to the training mode … What are some training BOOSTERS that could help push us down the road of meeting our fitness goals in the coming year?
- Bob & JT discuss
- Start earlier --- get going in the early part of the year BUT also for the vast majority of people start earlier means make it a part of the early part of your day before things get in the way.
- Add training hours – maybe not everyday but on a weekly basis have a plan for some weeks to have more time for the weekly total than others. I helps to build, step back and then build some more.
- Improve your sleep and recovery – IMPORTANT AS TRAINING
- Keep a handle on your carbs that you take in while exercising. Carbed up “sports drinks” are not necessarily the best thing. Don’t believe their ads. Granted some carbs are good but do your research and don’t rely upon ads for information.
- Diversify your training – Change what you do for training… for one day. Make it fun and see how going back to the grind becomes much easier.
Any other thoughts JT?
Bob’s final comment – It takes discipline to have a decide be focused on your training and include some ‘BOOTERS” as we’ve talked about today but there are dividends like making your fitness goals this year.
Point: DISCIPLINE MAKES THE DIFFERENCE --- in all aspects of life
