BB –  We are talking today about  “A New Beginning”

So JT What does that title bring up to your mind? ((JT ANSWERS))

  1. Bob – POINT: Everything about facing the new year is about things new and fresh but that’s not necessarily the best way. God says it’s best to seek out the way that is proven to be the best way to approach life…

Jeremiah 6:16 (ESV) — 16 Thus says the Lord: “Stand by the roads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is; and walk in it, and find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’

  1. JT ------ OK THEN LET’S TALK SOME MORE ABOUT THAT as we bring up… WHAT’S NEW –  as we open Bob’s recent blog from bobbrubaker.com …

  1. JT This is the PowerBreak Podcast, I’m JT along with Bob Brubaker and this is the –– time for some questions and answers. Feel free to submit your questions by EMAIL TO JT@bobbrubaker.com and we’ll get to the answer on an upcoming PowerBreak. Podcast…

  1. JTQuestion ONE - FROM THE SPIRITUAL SIDE OF LIFE….

If seeking the ancient pathways is getting into the word of God, what is a good plan of action for the coming year?

  1. Bob & JT discuss

There’s a good way to think about getting into the word of God so that the word of God gets into you… and it’s a look at your hand and remember the five ways, actually six.

  1. Read the word – have a plan to read the Bible through
  2. Study the word – follow a course of study – even sermon notes from your pastor
  3. Memorize the word – begin with one scripture per week
  4. Meditate upon the word – goes along with memorization – thinking it through
  5. Hear the word – preaching, teaching, or recordings of the word being read
  6. Apply the word – the hard part, with the help of God, action on the what you have read, studied, memorized, etc.

Bob’s plan of action

Question: JT – what is your plan of action?

  1. JT – Question Two… “FROM THE MENTAL ASPECT”

How can we prepare mentally to make sure we don’t fall into the trap of the people in Jeremiah’s day who said, we will not walk in the ancient pathway?

  1. Bob & JT discuss

Most people are not so brazen as to say that but when we fail to act, even if by neglect, we are saying most loudly, “we will not walk therein.”

SO … the bottom line is it takes discipline and as we always say, “discipline makes the difference in all aspects of life.” We often say that to the physical but it applies to the mental and the spiritual as well.

Discipline to make a plan of action

Discipline to rely upon the help of the Holy Spirit --- PRAYER

Discipline to apply the plan of action

Discipline to apply the word of God

Discipline to make regular assessments as to how you are doing in keeping to your plan and noting the positive differences the word of God is making in your life.

  1. Third question … Turning to the Physical

Let’s talk about injuries… we know we are all prone to injury and many times as we apply ourselves to physical activity on any level we sustain an injury or two. What’s the best way to deal with injuries?

  1. Bob & JT discuss

It’s more than just “mind over matter” but that does apply. Too often when an injury is sustained we dwell on the negative --- focusing on what we are missing, focusing on the inconvenience – focusing on the pain, etc.

The more we focus on the negative and the more negative we approach life --- it’s been proven the slower the healing process.

Hence people that are focused on prayer and the promises of God actually heal faster and one of the reasons is the positive attitude and actions that flow from a reliance upon God.

It makes sense that when you are praying and focused on a reliance upon God that your faith is increased in proportion to your faithfulness, and as a result your body’s healing process is facing less resistance --- of course all healing comes from God so it’s God’s power flowing.

The worst thing is to be a complainer and allow the negativity of the moment to grab hold of you and hold you in the moment of disappointment and discouragement.

Romans 8:28 (ESV) — 28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

If God has allowed this, He has a purpose so it’s best to work with Him and if you are working with Him through this your focus is on the spiritual which has a great affect upon the mental, which affects the physical.

So the best way to deal with an injury is to focus upon God and see how His love, power, and grace flow through your life in an expectation of His using this injury for your good and those around  you. Wallah!

Any other thoughts JT?

Bob’s final comment – It takes discipline to have a decide to rely upon God in times of an injury and see how He uses it for your good. But the result is a better and sooner healing than to be all negative and full of doubt and discouragement.

Point: DISCIPLINE MAKES THE DIFFERENCE --- in all aspects of life
