BB – We are talking today about “Our Hope”
So JT What does that title bring up to your mind? ((JT ANSWERS))
- Bob – POINT: We all need to be reminded of hope because the world offers no hope. The only hope for the world is the hope that Christians know well… the Lord Jesus Christ.
Colossians 1:27 (ESV) — 27 To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
- JT ------ OK THEN LET’S TALK SOME MORE ABOUT THAT as we bring up… WHAT’S NEW – as we open Bob’s recent blog from bobbrubaker.com …

- JT – This is the PowerBreak Podcast, I’m JT along with Bob Brubaker and this is the –– time for some questions and answers. Feel free to submit your questions by EMAIL TO JT@bobbrubaker.com and we’llget to the answer on an upcoming PowerBreak. Podcast…
- JT – Question ONE - FROM THE SPIRITUAL SIDE OF LIFE….
Let’s get it clear what the Bible means when it refers to hope… then let’s talk about why and how we can find or really uncover that hope today.
- Bob & JT discuss
Sadly, the word hope has become synonymous with wish so it has become something of uncertainty where the Bible speaks of hope as an expectation or anticipation of something that is positively sure, it’s just not yet. And the basis of the sureness is the reliability of God’s word. Any uncertainty is our flip flopping in knowing, holding to, and applying God’s word.
The basis then of all hope is the certainty of the Lord Jesus Christ. As I stated in the article … He is the hope, therefore His birth brought hope, His life gave a reason for hope, His death pronounced hope, His resurrection sealed our hope, His ascension and intervention helps our hope, and His return is the ultimate hope.
Meanwhile as we live in this world we live by hope but not in our own strength for Christ in us as the working of Holy Spirit is hope living through us, just as when we come to Christ it’s the resurrection hope bring us from dead in sins to alive in Christ.
Doesn’t stop there… as John says, if we have hope – we demonstrate is by living a life unto Christ..
It’s all about hope --- founded upon God’s word – which points us to Christ and His work for us, in us, and through us…. There is a reason for great hope.
- JT – Question Two… “FROM THE MENTAL ASPECT”
How can we mentally portray hope as things seem hopeless around us.
- Bob & JT discuss
Tis the season when people at least talk about hope… which maybe unfounded hope, in how people become a little more nice in the Christmas season … but why not be ready as peter says in 1Peter 3:15 to be ready to talk about the hope that we have.
1 Peter 3:15 (ESV) — 15 but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,
- Third question … Turning to the Physical
Let’s talk about making an eating plan so we don’t overdo it during the holiday season.
- Bob & JT discuss
Great idea JT. Here are a few thoughts…
- The average holiday meal ends up being around 5K calories or more… (stop the madness!!))
- If you don’t have a plan you’re trapped by the appeal of food and your self-discipline will overcome
- Think calories – not to count calories – but in making decisions…
- Reduce your portions – especially if there is a variety… if you have to – use a smaller plate
- Watch out for alcohol – pointless calories
- Choose fruits and vegetables over breads and other carbs
- Plan in advance and work your plan
Anything final thoughts on this JT?
Bob’s final comment – It takes discipline to have a plan and work your plan so holiday eating does not become added pounds to take off.
Point: DISCIPLINE MAKES THE DIFFERENCE --- in all aspects of life
