- JT – Question ONE - FROM THE SPIRITUAL SIDE OF LIFE….
Why is happiness so elusive?
- Bob & JT discuss
It’s really not when you follow what the Bible says. It’s elusive because we all want to find happiness on our own terms, when God has given us some guidelines how happiness is found.
Think of it this way…
Psalm 16:11 (ESV) — 11 You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
Amos 3:3 (ESV) — 3 “Do two walk together, unless they have agreed to meet?
1 Kings 10:8 (ESV) — 8 Happy are your men! Happy are your servants, who continually stand before you and hear your wisdom!
Psalm 128:1–2 (ESV) — 1 Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in his ways! 2 You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands; you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you.
Psalm 146:5 (ESV) — 5 Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God,
Proverbs 3:13 (ESV) — 13 Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding,
Proverbs 14:21 (ESV) — 21 Whoever despises his neighbor is a sinner, but blessed is he who is generous to the poor.
- JT – Question Two… “FROM THE MENTAL ASPECT”
It seems then that happiness seems to be a byproduct rather than a goal. How then do we mentally pursue it?
- Bob & JT discuss
John 15:4–5 (ESV) — 4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. 5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
- (JT) Third Question …. From the physical side of life…
Let’s talk about what to eat and drink while working out, riding, running, etc.
- Bob and JT discuss…
- Eating too much can be worse than eating too little
- You need carbs, don’t rob yourself
- Fat is good but not too much – (side effects)
- Water is good but you need to keep your GI track interested with flavor
- Salt and electrolytes are important
- EXPERIMENT before the race or event
Anything thoughts on this JT?
Bob’s final comment –It doesn’t take all that much but if you are disciplined to exercise regularly you will benefit - of course be disciplined enough to talk to your doctor before you begin any exercise program BUT it pays to add this discipline to your life….
Point: DISCIPLINE MAKES THE DIFFERENCE --- in all aspects of life
