  1. JT This is the PowerBreak Podcast, I’m JT along with Bob Brubaker and this is the  –– time for some questions and answers. Feel free to submit your questions by EMAIL TO JT@bobbrubaker.com and we’ll get to the answer on an upcoming PowerBreak. Podcast…

  1. JTQuestion ONE - FROM THE SPIRITUAL SIDE OF LIFE….

Let’s talk about what it takes to be an intercessor – you’re talking about intercessory prayer right?

  1. Bob & JT discuss

Romans 8:26–27 (ESV) — 26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. 27 And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

Hebrews 7:25 (ESV) — 25 Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.

Hebrews 4:14–16 (ESV) — 14 Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Ephesians 6:18–19 (ESV) — 18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, 19 and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel,

  1. JT – Question Two… “FROM THE MENTAL ASPECT”

What does it take mentally to be an intercessor?

  1. Bob & JT discuss

Philippians 2:3–7 (ESV) — 3 Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. 4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. 5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.

1 Samuel 7:8 (ESV) — 8 And the people of Israel said to Samuel, “Do not cease to cry out to the Lord our God for us, that he may save us from the hand of the Philistines.”

1 Thessalonians 3:10 (ESV) — 10 as we pray most earnestly night and day that we may see you face to face and supply what is lacking in your faith?

1 Timothy 5:5 (ESV) — 5 She who is truly a widow, left all alone, has set her hope on God and continues in supplications and prayers night and day,

Nehemiah 1:6 (ESV) — 6 let your ear be attentive and your eyes open, to hear the prayer of your servant that I now pray before you day and night for the people of Israel your servants, confessing the sins of the people of Israel, which we have sinned against you. Even I and my father’s house have sinned.

  1. (JT) Third Question …. From the physical side of life…

How important is time off for a given sport and training and does a period of “detraining” help or hurt?

  1. Bob and JT discuss…
  2. Examples of professional cyclists
  3. Alternate sports
  4. Renew relationships
  5. Work on cross training

Anything else JT?

Bob’s final comment – It takes discipline ….

Point: DISCIPLINE MAKES THE DIFFERENCE --- in all aspects of life
