- JT – Question ONE - FROM THE SPIRITUAL SIDE OF LIFE….
Do our needs really matter to God? And Should we automatically assume that if what we thought was a need and was not provided that it was really a want so it was denied?
- Bob & JT discuss
Romans 8:26–27 (ESV) — 26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. 27 And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.
Philippians 4:23 (ESV) — 23 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.
Philippians 4:10–13 (ESV) — 10 I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at length you have revived your concern for me. You were indeed concerned for me, but you had no opportunity. 11 Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. 12 I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. 13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
2 Corinthians 12:7–10 (ESV) — 7 So to keep me from becoming conceited because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from becoming conceited. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
- JT – Question Two… “FROM THE MENTAL ASPECT”
How can we mentally apply this concept that God cares about every need we have and He has promised to supply them.
- Bob & JT discuss
Matthew 7:7–11 (ESV) — 7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. 9 Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? 11 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
Hebrews 12:9–11 (ESV) — 9 Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live? 10 For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness. 11 For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.
- (JT) Third Question …. From the physical side of life…
Let’s talk about fitness goals for the coming year as it’s not too early to talk about it.
- Bob and JT discuss…
- Consistency in workouts – start off trying to workout 12 times in 1 month and build from there
- Continuous cardio work – building distance and time
- Try a new workout until you like it or find something better
- Step counting – 10K per day for a month
- Push up test and number building testing each month
- Rest days – make sure you build in 8 per month
- Stretch for 15 minutes after each workout
- Strive for a 1 minute plank
- Drink 2-3 liters of water per day
- Participate in an event – such as a 5K – training for 3 months out
Anything else JT?
Bob’s final comment – It takes discipline ….
