  1. JTQuestion ONE - FROM THE SPIRITUAL SIDE OF LIFE….

Why is humility so important?

  1. Bob & JT discuss

1 Peter 5:6–7 (ESV) — 6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, 7 casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

Isaiah 66:1–2 (ESV) — 1 Thus says the Lord: “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool; what is the house that you would build for me, and what is the place of my rest? 2 All these things my hand has made, and so all these things came to be, declares the Lord. But this is the one to whom I will look: he who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at my word.

Isaiah 57:15 (ESV) — 15 For thus says the One who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly, and to revive the heart of the contrite.

1 John 2:15–16 (ESV) — 15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world.

  1. JT – Question Two… “FROM THE MENTAL ASPECT”

There’s an old country song, “O Lord it’s hard to be humble”… why is that?

  1. Bob & JT discuss

2 Corinthians 12:7–10 (ESV) — 7 So to keep me from becoming conceited because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from becoming conceited. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

1 Corinthians 10:12 (ESV) — 12 Therefore let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall.

  1. (JT) Third Question …. From the physical side of life…

With the focus these days on getting “more steps” in everyday – what are some realistic ways to increase movement or “steps?”

  1. Bob and JT discuss…
  2. Take a walk every morning
  3. Set an alarm to walk at least once an hour – even a short walk
  4. Walk while you talk on the phone
  5. If you don’t have time for a long walk – plan for short walks
  6. Always park at a distance from where you are going
  7. Add steps to your daily routine instead of cutting steps
  8. Combine your errands by parking central and walking to each place
  9. Get a short walk in with lunch after you eat
  10. Always take the stairs
  11. Find refreshment in outdoor walks on trails
  12. Walk your dog
  13. Get a walk after dinner – good for digestion and your sleep
  14. Get a quick walk during commercials
  15. Shop at a farmer’s market – it’ll mean more walking
  16. Drink lots of water – good for you and will get you walking (teehee)

Anything else JT?

Bob’s final comment – It takes discipline ….

Point: DISCIPLINE MAKES THE DIFFERENCE --- in all aspects of life
