BB&JT: Plea and thank you for ratings and review & for spreading the word via social media and word of mouth…

BB –  We are talking today about … “Prepare To Fly Away”…

So JT What does that title bring up to your mind?

  1. Bob – POINT: When Moses makes his point about the need to consider how short our lives really are he makes a strong emphasis to “prepare to fly away”

Psalm 90:10 (ESV) — 10 The years of our life are seventy, or even by reason of strength eighty; yet their span is but toil and trouble; they are soon gone, and we fly away.

  1. JT ------ OK THEN LET’S TALK SOME MORE ABOUT THAT as we bring up… WHAT’S NEW –  as we open Bob’s recent blog from bobbrubaker.com …

  1. JT This is the PowerBreak Podcast, I’m JT along with Bob Brubaker and this is the  –– time for some questions and answers. Feel free to submit your questions by EMAIL TO JT@bobbrubaker.com and we’ll get to the answer on an upcoming PowerBreak. Podcast…

  1. JTQuestion ONE - FROM THE SPIRITUAL SIDE OF LIFE….

Before we get to the first question ----- “Didn’t we cover Psalm 90 earlier this year when we talked about making the most of our time?”

(((Bob Answers –  You are absolutely correct! Back in June but I thought a little more from that Psalm wouldn’t hurt!)))

OK question one then…How does the consideration of the brevity of life change how we pray?

  1. Bob & JT discuss

Go back to Psalm 90 and consider Moses’ prayer requests in light of what he has said about the brevity of life…

Psalm 90:13–17 (ESV) — 13 Return, O Lord! How long? Have pity on your servants! 14 Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days. 15 Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us, and for as many years as we have seen evil. 16 Let your work be shown to your servants, and your glorious power to their children. 17 Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands!

Point: too many times our prayer is about our needs and most of the time it’s not about our making the most of our interpretation of life in the light of what God is doing in us and around us. Moses is really giving us a challenge to have a desire for a greater “God centered world view” to see things from His perspective while we travel through this world because our time here is brief at most.

  1. JT – Question Two… “FROM THE MENTAL ASPECT”

Is it a bit morbid to go through life with this “prepare to eject” or prepare to fly away mentality?

  1. Bob & JT discuss

It could be until we seek to get a handle on other scriptures that point to the same…

Psalm 39:5 (ESV) — 5 Behold, you have made my days a few handbreadths, and my lifetime is as nothing before you. Surely all mankind stands as a mere breath! Selah

Psalm 39:6 (ESV) — 6 Surely a man goes about as a shadow! Surely for nothing they are in turmoil; man heaps up wealth and does not know who will gather!

James 4:13–14 (ESV) — 13 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— 14 yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.

And again from Psalm 90

Psalm 90:10 (ESV) — 10 The years of our life are seventy, or even by reason of strength eighty; yet their span is but toil and trouble; they are soon gone, and we fly away.

If God says something one time we should take heed but at least four times means we should take note and make sure it’s part of our thinking every day.

  1. (JT) Third Question …. From the physical side of life…

Let’s talk about pre – workout meals. What is the best thing to eat prior to working out?

  1. Bob and JT discuss…
  • Depends on the workout and the time prior to workout ….
  • The chart says –
    • Four hours before a standard workout – mix of strength and cardio --- make it a low glycemic meal or bar with some fat and protein
    • Three hours prior – less fat but more protein
    • Two hours prior – more carbs in the mix of high and low glycemic index
    • One hour prior – high glycemic index and low fiber
  • What do you eat and when prior to a workout?
    • JT answers
  • Of course, it is OK to sometimes in shorter and easier cardio workouts to exercise in a fasted state but make sure you have a carb reserve such as a gel with you in the event you bonk along the way.

Bob’s final comment – It takes discipline ….

Point: DISCIPLINE MAKES THE DIFFERENCE --- in all aspects of life
