JT answers and ask Bob the same question about he and Jan…
- Bob – POINT: Love that is true love is based upon commitment NOT emotion.
1 Corinthians 13:4–7 (ESV) — 4 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant 5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; 6 it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. 7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
That is a call for commitment…
So today it’s the consideration of Who Do You Love …
JT ------ OK THEN LET’S TALK SOME MORE ABOUT THAT as we bring up… WHAT’S NEW – as we open Bob’s recent blog from bobbrubaker.com …

- JT – Question ONE - FROM THE SPIRITUAL SIDE OF LIFE….
Is it possible to really love as we find described in 1Corinthian 13
- Bob
Not without the help of God.
If two people will love God as He is to be loved and they are committed to loving as He describes love then it’s really God’s love flowing through each other.
Ecclesiastes 4:9–12 (ESV) — 9 Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. 10 For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! 11 Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? 12 And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
Genesis 2:22–24 (ESV) — 22 And the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man. 23 Then the man said, “This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.” 24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
So it is possible when God is honored in the marriage as He is number one in the life of the husband and number one in the life of the wife…. THEN it’s a growing process but the key is COMMITMENT to God’s standard. d
- JT – Question Two… “FROM THE MENTAL ASPECT”
How do we avoid the mental trap of expecting too much from our spouse?
- Bob
Look in the mirror and see your own faults and realize that marriage is not two perfect people trying to outdo one another but two sinners under the same roof, relying upon the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit as He takes the word of God and applies it to the life of each member of the marriage individually and collectively. In other words it’s a growth process
But ever so important is the commitment to one another and to the marriage. Remember the marriage vows….
I, Jake Holmes, take you Dominike Rounds to be my wedded wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part, according to God’s Holy ordinance, and there to I pledge you my all.
- That is a commitment … a commitment that needs to be renewed in your mind all the time… and regularly together… (((ministry of a wedding)))
- (JT) Third Question …. Turning to the physical aspect of life….
Let’s talk about recovery… What are some ways you have found that help in recovery from workouts or races or whatever?

JT has words of wisdom and experience….
