BB&JT: Plea and thank you for ratings and review & for spreading the word via social media and word of mouth…

BB –  We are talking today about … Correctly Assessing Ourselves… How have you seen someone incorrectly assessing themselves?

JT answers and discussion

  1. Bob – POINT: It’s important to take a good look at ourselves and really see if we are meeting the standard we need to meet or want to meet. As every athlete regularly tests their skills and their fitness to see where they are and what they need to do to improve, so we all in all aspects of life need to correctly assess ourselves…especially spiritually.

2 Corinthians 13:5 (ESV) —
5 Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test!

JT ------ OK THEN LET’S  TALK SOME MORE ABOUT THAT as we bring up… WHAT’S NEW –  as we open Bob’s recent blog from bobbrubaker.com …

Bob, tell us what you wrote in your blog,

  1. JT This is the PowerBreak Podcast, I’m JT along with Bob Brubaker and this is the  –– time for some questions and answers. Feel free to submit your questions by EMAIL TO JT@bobbrubaker.com and we’ll get to the answer on an upcoming PowerBreak. Podcast…

You mentioned five areas of assessing ourselves in your blog. What do you think is the most important area of our spiritual life to assess?

  1. Bob

  1. Are you serving or are you spectating?
  2. Are you evangelizing or are you a secret disciple?
  3. Is your sensitivity to sin in your life growing or have you become insensitive to the little things to the place where you feel you have no sin – or at least avoid any need of confession of sin to God regularly?
  4. Are you using the things you’ve been taught in the word of God or are you proud of what you have learned so much that you seem to hoard knowledge, rather than use it or share it?
  5. Are you hungry to learn and grow or are you content in feeling like you have arrived as if there is no need for any further growth or improvement?

2 Corinthians 13:5 (ESV) — 5 Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test!

Revelation 2:5 (ESV) — 5 Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.

  1. JT – Question Two… “FROM THE MENTAL ASPECT”

Why is self-examination or self-assessment so important?

  1. Bob

Romans 12:3 (ESV) — 3 For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned.

  • What you measure, you improve …. No  measure equals no improvement.

1 Corinthians 10:12 (ESV) — 12 Therefore let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall.

  1. (JT) Third Question …. Turning to the physical aspect of life….

Let’s talk about early morning workouts and how a person can incorporate them into a busy life without missing out on a good night of sleep.

  • (((first – discussion about getting up early)))
  • Some ideas…

  1. BB & JT discuss ---
  • Cut back on caffeine by early afternoon
  • Cut back on alcohol in the evening
  • Reduce your “blue light exposure” in the evening ((explain))
  • Set your workout clothes out the night before
  • Get to bed earlier
  • Cut back the temp during sleeping hours
  • Make sure your room is dark
  • Have a consistent wake up time
  • Make plans to workout with a friend
  • Turn on your lights for brighter lights in the morning

Bob’s final comment – It takes discipline ….

Point: DISCIPLINE MAKES THE DIFFERENCE --- in all aspects of life
