  1. Bob – POINT: We all need to think about standing in the gap for our country, state, county, and even our church…

 

Ezekiel 22:30 (ESV) — 30 And I sought for a man among them who should build up the wall and stand in the breach before me for the land, that I should not destroy it, but I found none.

Sadly, God speaks through the prophet about pending judgment … and that He looked for someone to “stand in the gap” but found NONE.

  1. JTQuestion ONE - FROM THE SPIRITUAL SIDE OF LIFE….

 

Help us get a handle on why we need to stand in the gap or why it’s so important…

  1. Bob

Definition: Stand in the gap is standing between judgment from God and the people we care enough about the stand in the gap.

Genesis 18:32 (ESV) — 32 Then he said, “Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak again but this once. Suppose ten are found there.” He answered, “For the sake of ten I will not destroy it.”

Ezekiel 22:30 (ESV) — 30 And I sought for a man among them who should build up the wall and stand in the breach before me for the land, that I should not destroy it, but I found none.

Psalm 11:1–7 (ESV) — 1 In the Lord I take refuge; how can you say to my soul, “Flee like a bird to your mountain, 2 for behold, the wicked bend the bow; they have fitted their arrow to the string to shoot in the dark at the upright in heart; 3 if the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?” 4 The Lord is in his holy temple; the Lord’s throne is in heaven; his eyes see, his eyelids test the children of man. 5 The Lord tests the righteous, but his soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence. 6 Let him rain coals on the wicked; fire and sulfur and a scorching wind shall be the portion of their cup. 7 For the Lord is righteous; he loves righteous deeds; the upright shall behold his face.

Mentally, help us to get our minds around some activities that are included in standing in the gap.

Righteous Living, Intercession, and Gospel communication

  1. (JT) Third Question …. Turning to the physical aspect of life….

 

Let’s talk about the benefits of walking.

 

  1. BB & JT discuss ---

 

  • Increased heart and lung function
  • Reduced risk of heart disease, stroke and cancer
  • Reduced stress
  • Improved management of blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes
  • Stronger bones and improved balance
  • Increased muscle strength and endurance
  • Reduced body fat
  • Prevention against dementia, and even depression

 

Just takes 30 minutes a day for five days a week to maximize the benefit.
