BB –  Today we’re talking about “Faithfulness” .. Who does that bring to mind?

JT answers

  1. Bob – POINT: We all know someone to whom we can count that we’d consider to be faithful. Of course God is the epidemy of faithfulness so when He judges our faithfulness, He has the right since His faithfulness is as the psalmist says, “extended to the clouds.” As God demands faithfulness from us, He also takes not of every spec of our faithful service.

Matthew 25:21 (ESV) — 21 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’

  1. JT ------ OK THEN LET’S TALK SOME MORE ABOUT THAT as we bring up… WHAT’S NEW –  as we open Bob’s recent blog from bobbrubaker.com …

  1. JT This is the PowerBreak Podcast, I’m JT along with Bob Brubaker and this is the  –– time for some questions and answers. Feel free to submit your questions by EMAIL TO JT@bobbrubaker.com and we’ll get to the answer on an upcoming PowerBreak. Podcast…

  1. JTQuestion ONE - FROM THE SPIRITUAL SIDE OF LIFE….

Why is it important to consider God’s faithfulness as motivation to be faithful in all at we do?

  1. Bob
  2. God does not demand from us something that we cannot see in Him.
  3. As we count on God’s faithfulness – we understand how important faithfulness is.
  4. We consider God’s promises to our faithfulness.

Psalm 36:5 (ESV) — 5 Your steadfast love, O Lord, extends to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds.

Psalm 89:1–2 (ESV) — 1 I will sing of the steadfast love of the Lord, forever; with my mouth I will make known your faithfulness to all generations. 2 For I said, “Steadfast love will be built up forever; in the heavens you will establish your faithfulness.”

1 John 1:9 (ESV) — 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Matthew 25:21 (ESV) — 21 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’

  1. JT – Question Two… “FROM THE MENTAL ASPECT” –

How do we overcome those “slacker moments” when we want to let up on our faithfulness and not do the job we know we should be doing?

  1. Bob

First consider the fact that God has made us stewards in whatever we have or are called to do…

1 Corinthians 4:7 (ESV) — 7 For who sees anything different in you? What do you have that you did not receive? If then you received it, why do you boast as if you did not receive it?

1 Corinthians 4:2 (ESV) — 2 Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful.

Secondly, Jesus reminded us that He takes notice of our faithfulness in the big and the small areas of life.

Luke 16:10–11 (ESV) — 10 “One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much. 11 If then you have not been faithful in the unrighteous wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches?

Matthew 25:21 (ESV) — 21 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’

Thirdly, He given us great comparisons in the book of Proverbs to consider…

Proverbs 13:17 (ESV) — 17 A wicked messenger falls into trouble, but a faithful envoy brings healing.

Proverbs 14:5 (ESV) — 5 A faithful witness does not lie, but a false witness breathes out lies.

Proverbs 20:6 (ESV) — 6 Many a man proclaims his own steadfast love, but a faithful man who can find?

Proverbs 25:19 (KJV 1900) — 19 Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble Is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint.

  1. (JT) Third Question …. Turning to the physical aspect of life….

Let’s talk about long distance training… What are some things you have found that one shouldn’t do…

  1. BB & JT discuss ---

  1. Don’t sit down at aid stations… keep moving. If you sit, you’ll have a hard time getting going again.
  2. Make sure you accomplish what you are there to do at an aid station – fuel up with hydration and nutrition AND… make sure your supply of hydration and fuel is built up to go.
  3. Don’t sacrifice your needed fuel for the sake of “losing weight.”
  4. Keep your focus on what you are doing but don’t get caught up with distance to go… just keep focus on what is at hand…
  5. Don’t try to train someone else’s training plan – stick to your own plan. ((146 miler))

Bob’s final comment – It takes discipline ….

Point: DISCIPLINE MAKES THE DIFFERENCE --- in all aspects of life
