BB&JT: Plea and thank you for ratings and review & for spreading the word via social media and word of mouth…

BB –  What do you worry about the most? (not meant to criticize or stir up criticism… we all have those things that cause us to worry)

JT: ANSWER           & “How about you?

  1. Bob – POINT: Even the most devoted Christian seems to have the Achilles heel – the thing that causes worry and doubt… even though we’re told the antidote to worry is to pray and trust God….

Philippians 4:6–7 (ESV) — 6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

There are just some things that seem to be the hardest to completely turn over to God as far as trusting Him for the outcome… but those are the very things that hinder our spiritual growth and further blessing – something we need  His grace to do what we know we should…

Luke 16:10–11 (ESV) — 10 “One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much. 11 If then you have not been faithful in the unrighteous wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches?

Explain the importance of entrusting or “handing over everything to God,” and what it means when we don’t.

  1. Bob

  1. When we don’t trust God with something --- we imply that God has a fault – we are saying we can trust Him with some things but not with other things. (((keep following this…))

That is really saying that we are not sure about God so we are going to try to work this one out our own.

Psalm 37:3–5 (ESV) — 3 Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. 4 Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.

Proverbs 16:3 (ESV) — 3 Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.

  1. God has told us clearly in His word what He expects from us…

Mark 12:29–31 (ESV) — 29 Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

  1. That means we look the Lord Jesus Christ for the example of complete trust… Notice the words concerning Christ on the cross…

1 Peter 2:23 (ESV) — 23 When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly.

1 Peter 4:19 (ESV) — 19 Therefore let those who suffer according to God’s will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good.

  1. JT – Question Two… “FROM THE MENTAL ASPECT” –

How do we mentally give it over to God? I understand we need to pray and to fill our minds with the promises of God, etc. but how can we give our situation to God from the mental standpoint. Sounds like the spiritual and the mental come together.

  1. Bob

It’s the how and the why of entrusting the cares of life over to God that becomes the mental hang up.

First the how… Let’s look at the life of the Lord Jesus Christ…

1 Peter 2:23 (ESV) — 23 When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly.

This is how Jesus endured great suffering and exactly how we can endure faithfully – by committing our way to the Father, depending upon Him to sustain us and bring about the end that will glorify Him.

The why… was because in the order of authority within the Trinity.. the son is subject to the Father and knows the Father has his best interest in mind…

LIKEWISE – we trust our cares to God because that what we are supposed to do… and because we know He has our best interest in mind…

The third thing to keep in mind is that to hold on to our cares and not entrust them to God is actually an act of rebellion and a demonstration of pride because we are telling God He can’t be trusted … and I think I can do a better job.

  1. (JT) Third Question …. Turning to the physical aspect of life….

Let’s talk about the importance of Nutrition… especially as it  might pertain to young athletes…

  1. Bob interrupts… actually this is a question for you JT… as you and Amy have done a great deal of study on the subject and you have two aspiring athletes in Christian and Gabriel.

  1. JT’s answer…

Bob’s final comment – It takes discipline …. To follow good nutrition guidelines…

Point: DISCIPLINE MAKES THE DIFFERENCE --- in all aspects of life

Closing statement Bob…. “check out today’s show notes at bobbrubaker.com and click on the PowerBreak podcast – today’s show is 135.
