  • JT: ANSWER

  • JT – How about you?

BB answers

  1. Bob – POINT: We know that right makes might, might does not make right… even so when you are willing to take a stand for what is right – it will likely cost you… but fear  not --- the Lord Jesus Christ promised to be with you…

John 15:18–20 (ESV) — 18 “If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. 19 If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. 20 Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours.

  1. JT – “So here we go… in our time for WHAT ABOUT THIS…  –– time for some questions and answers. Feel free to submit your questions by EMAIL TO JT@bobbrubaker.com and we’ll get to the answer on an upcoming PowerBreak. Podcast…

  1. JTQuestion ONE FROM THE SPIRITUAL SIDE OF LIFE….

When we read about Peter’s stand in the Bible… or Paul’s relentless defense of the truth… or even of Martin Luther’s stand… how can we find that courage?

  1. Bob

First – such courage flows from a deep seeded relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and the word of God…

1 Peter 3:15 (ESV) — 15 but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,

Secondly – preparation for the attacks which come upon us suddenly… is being so in tuned to the Spirit of God (word of God) that it doesn’t throw us off guard…

1 Peter 5:8–9 (ESV) — 8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.

Context…

1 Peter 5:6–7 (ESV) — 6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, 7 casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

Third – fill your minds with accounts of those who have taken a stand before you…

Romans 15:4 (ESV) — 4 For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

  1. JT – Question Two… “FROM THE MENTAL ASPECT” –

How do we prep

  1. Bob

We need a proper and scriptural worldview, making sure we are  not compromising with the world and giving in to the wordly thinking against which we are to take a stand…

1 Timothy 1:3–7 (ESV) — 3 As I urged you when I was going to Macedonia, remain at Ephesus so that you may charge certain persons not to teach any different doctrine, 4 nor to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies, which promote speculations rather than the stewardship from God that is by faith. 5 The aim of our charge is love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. 6 Certain persons, by swerving from these, have wandered away into vain discussion, 7 desiring to be teachers of the law, without understanding either what they are saying or the things about which they make confident assertions.

1 Timothy 1:18–20 (ESV) — 18 This charge I entrust to you, Timothy, my child, in accordance with the prophecies previously made about you, that by them you may wage the good warfare, 19 holding faith and a good conscience. By rejecting this, some have made shipwreck of their faith, 20 among whom are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have handed over to Satan that they may learn not to blaspheme.

  1. (JT) Third Question …. Turning to the physical aspect of life….

We always say that “discipline makes the difference in all aspects of life” – so how do lessons we learn in sports carry over to doing us good in life?

  1. Bob’s answer…
  • Sports help us find inspiration in life ---
  • Sports help us find the cycle of gain in stress then rest and recovery
  • Sports teach us to love what you are doing as much or more than the outcome…
  • Sports teach us to find success in the daily accomplishments of training
  • Sports become an opportunity to surround ourselves with likeminded positive and motivated people…

Bob’s final comment – It takes discipline ….

Point: DISCIPLINE MAKES THE DIFFERENCE --- in all aspects of life
