  1. JTQuestion ONE FROM THE SPIRITUAL SIDE OF LIFE….

Why do we try to hide from our sin? And what is the motivation for coming out of hiding?

  1. Bob

We inherited the tendency to want to hide from our sin….

Genesis 3:8–10 (ESV) — 8 And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. 9 But the Lord God called to the man and said to him, “Where are you?” 10 And he said, “I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself.

Genesis 3:11–13 (ESV) — 11 He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?” 12 The man said, “The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit of the tree, and I ate.” 13 Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this that you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”

Motivation…

Psalm 32:1–5 (ESV) — 1 Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. 2 Blessed is the man against whom the Lord counts no iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit. 3 For when I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. 4 For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was dried up as by the heat of summer. Selah 5 I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,” and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah

1 John 1:9 (ESV) — 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 1:8–10 (ESV) — 8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

Proverbs 28:13 (ESV) — 13 Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.

  1. JT – Question Two… “FROM THE MENTAL ASPECT” –

What does a person do to him/her self by trying to hide their sin?

  1. Bob

DOUBLE LIFE – you know it’s wrong and you know you’ll be caught so there is NO PEACE…

May as well come clean… (((ILL – David with Bathsheba))) “You da man!”

Psalm 51:1–4 (ESV) — 1 Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. 2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin! 3 For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. 4 Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that you may be justified in your words and blameless in your judgment.

Psalm 51:7–12 (ESV) — 7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. 8 Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones that you have broken rejoice. 9 Hide your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities. 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. 11 Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. 12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.

  1. (JT) Third Question …. Turning to the physical aspect of life….

How important is rest? And what can you do to get better sleep?

  1. BB – Bob answers… WHOOP – what you measure you can work on improving… sleep and recovery scores

  • REST = rebuilding
  • No rest – operate on cortisol and glycogen and tend to overate and gain weight
  • Sleep real important …
    • Same time and same amount about as important as amount
    • Better sleep
      • Cool dark room
      • Cut out the screens an hour before bed
      • Watch out for evening stimulation like news and TV shows or loud music – even sporting events
      • Take note of what you eat and or drink or supplements and the amount of sleep…
      • Take note of anything that can get a handle on REM and DEEP SLEEP
    • SLEEP AND REST PLAY AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN RECOVER

  1. Bob’s final comment – It takes discipline ….
