  1. Bob – POINT: Too many times we look at our work as a curse. In reality the difficulty of work is part of the curse but the work itself is meant by God to be considered a blessing and our work is to be done as unto the Lord..

Colossians 3:23 (ESV) — 23 Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men,

  1. JT – “So here we go… in our time for WHAT ABOUT THIS…  –– time for some questions and answers. Feel free to submit your questions by EMAIL TO JT@bobbrubaker.com and we’ll get to the answer on an upcoming PowerBreak. Podcast…

  1. JTQuestion ONE FROM THE SPIRITUAL SIDE OF LIFE….

Remind us again why work is NOT a curse and what we can do when we feel like it is.

  1. Bob

Get this right…

First, remember that labor or work was given to man before Adam sinned, so work is not part of the curse.  After man sinned, part of the curse was the pain or stress and strain that would be part of his work or labor.

Genesis 2:15 (ESV) — 15 The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it.

Genesis 3:17–19 (ESV) — 17 And to Adam he said, “Because you have listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you, ‘You shall not eat of it,’ cursed is the ground because of you; in pain you shall eat of it all the days of your life; 18 thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you; and you shall eat the plants of the field. 19 By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”

Nevertheless, God tells us that the rest of a man who labors well is good.

Ecclesiastes 5:12 (ESV) — 12 Sweet is the sleep of a laborer, whether he eats little or much, but the full stomach of the rich will not let him sleep.

Matthew 5:13–16 (ESV) — 13 “You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet. 14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Colossians 3:23 (ESV) — 23 Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men,

  1. JT – Question Two… “FROM THE MENTAL ASPECT” –

What can a person do mentally when they hate their job because of the people they work with or for?

  1. Bob

First – remember God is in control – even of the fact that He has you where you are for His purpose and His ways are perfect – so even if it is a hurtful time – it’s not meant to destroy you but for your sanctification and for your testing as to display that you will serve Him no matter what

Second – remember you serve Him and not your employer…

Colossians 3:23–24 (ESV) — 23 Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.

Third – Rely upon God for daily grace, and avoid trying to figure things out how people are plotting against you.

Fourth – watch your tongue and your thoughts… that can lead to bitterness and increase your dislike for the situation.

  1. (JT) Third Question …. Turning to the physical aspect of life….

I know this is a passion of yours so here you go… When riding in a group ride, aka – “peloton” what are some points of riding etiquette that should be observed?

  1. BB – Bob answers… first – background of riding with a team and a great coach

  1. Be careful – riding close to cut the draft by 24% - close enough but not too close, watching the bike ahead and l looking out way ahead
  2. No foolishness because you touch a tire you go down and bring others down
  3. Point out things on the road to avoid –
  4. Never play the hero when you end up front – keep the pace steady – it’s not a race to increase the speed
  5. When you are in front keep the people behind you in mind … when your cross a road, go through a light and WHEN you begin from a stop…. NO JACKRABBITING

(((LIKE TO SAY, “WHAT PART OF GROUP RIDE DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND”)))

  • Just a few

  1. Bob’s final comment – It takes discipline ….

Point: DISCIPLINE MAKES THE DIFFERENCE --- in all aspects of life
