  1. Bob – POINT: We get all happy over some of the most unusual things in life but how about the command that is given to “rejoice in the Lord?”

Did you know that God judged His people in Deut because they did not serve Him with joy and gladness?

Deuteronomy 28:47 (ESV) — 47 Because you did not serve the Lord your God with joyfulness and gladness of heart, because of the abundance of all things,

It’s serious business for which God has given a command and demonstrated judgement

  1. JT – “So here we go… in our time for WHAT ABOUT THIS…  –– time for some questions and answers. Feel free to submit your questions by EMAIL TO JT@bobbrubaker.com and we’ll get to the answer on an upcoming PowerBreak. Podcast…

  1. JTQuestion ONE

We’ve all been there but what about the times we just don’t feel like rejoicing?

How do we deal with this?

  1. Bob

First, there is nothing about feelings in the command…

Philippians 4:4 (ESV) — 4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.

Secondly, the key is to rejoice in the Lord… and there’s always a reason to rejoice in Him.

Thirdly… PHilipians is about rejoicing – written by Paul in prison… and he says AND I WILL REJOICE…

Philippians 1:12–18 (ESV) — 12 I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel, 13 so that it has become known throughout the whole imperial guard and to all the rest that my imprisonment is for Christ. 14 And most of the brothers, having become confident in the Lord by my imprisonment, are much more bold to speak the word without fear. 15 Some indeed preach Christ from envy and rivalry, but others from good will. 16 The latter do it out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. 17 The former proclaim Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely but thinking to afflict me in my imprisonment. 18 What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed, and in that I rejoice. Yes, and I will rejoice,

  1. JT – Question Two… From a mental standpoint…

Is this a case of mind over matter?

  1. Bob

Actually it’s spirit over mind… over body…

2 Corinthians 10:4–5 (ESV) — 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. 5 We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,

Philippians 4:4 (ESV) — 4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.

  1. (JT) Third Question …. Turning to the physical aspect of life….

Is rejoicing in the Lord going to help me physically?

  1. Bob

Habakkuk 3:17–19 (ESV) — 17 Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, 18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation. 19 God, the Lord, is my strength; he makes my feet like the deer’s; he makes me tread on my high places. To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments.

  1. Bob’s final comment
