  • BB – What are you like when you are hungry?
    • JT - (((answer)))
  • JT – How about you..?
    • BB (((answer)))

  1. Bob – POINT: When we are hungry we often get “HANGRY” = combination of hunger and anger… The point is we are not ourselves when we are hungry

SAME GOES SPIRITUALLY… How are you when you neglect the Bible or prayer, or worship, or fellowship with other Christians? You may not think you change but ask those closest to you and I’m sure they would say, “you are not yourself.”

Well what can you do for a person like that?

Galatians 6:2 (ESV) — 2 Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

How?

Galatians 6:1 (ESV) — 1 Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted.

  1. JTQuestion ONE

Talk some more about being that person who says, “you are not yourself when you are hungry” --- HOW CAN WE DO THAT WITHOUT COMING ACROSS AS JUDGMENTAL

  1. Bob

Good point!

Galatians 6:1–2 (ESV) — 1 Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. 2 Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

  • Note the words: restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted

  • RESTORE – NOT CLOBBER

  • GENTLENESS = without harshness

2 Timothy 2:24–26 (ESV) — 24 And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, 25 correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth, 26 and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will.

  • WATCH ON YOURSELF

Matthew 7:1–5 (ESV) — 1 “Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. 3 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.

  • 3 things = restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted

  1. JT – Question Two… From a mental standpoint…

How do you get beyond the fear of stepping out of your comfort zone and reaching out to one  who is not themselves?

  1. Bob

Esther 4:14 (ESV) — 14 For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”

  • Which is worse… getting clobbered in resentment or criticism by the person who is not themselves OR leaving that person alone, knowing you had what they needed but refused to so anything.

James 4:17 (ESV) — 17 So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.

  1. (JT) Third Question …. Turning to the physical aspect of life….

I know it is so… but let’s talk about the physical aspect of this principle…

  1. Bob
  • BONKING come from neglecting nourishment and hydration… SO one of the best things you can do for someone is to remind them to stay hydrated and nourished… WHICH IS A REMINDER TO YOURSELF

  1. Bob’s final comment

Point: DISCIPLINE MAKES THE DIFFERENCE --- in all aspects of life

  1. Closing statement Bob…. “check out today’s show notes at bobbrubaker.com and click on the PowerBreak podcast – today’s show is 086
