BB – We are talking today about … “Fullness Of Blessing” … So JT – What do you think of when you hear or read “FULLNESS OF BLESSING?”
JT answers and discussion
- Bob – POINT: Even though way not feel like it at times, the point of the Scriptures is this… that we are recipients of the “fullness of blessing” when you consider all that is ours, as a follower of Jesus Christ. Think about it…
John 1:16 (ESV) — 16 For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.
.
So today it’s the consideration of the FULLNESS OF BLESSING
JT ------ OK THEN LET’S TALK SOME MORE ABOUT THAT as we bring up… WHAT’S NEW – as we open Bob’s recent blog from bobbrubaker.com …

- JT – Question ONE - FROM THE SPIRITUAL SIDE OF LIFE….
Why should a Christian hold to this “fullness of blessing” concept, even when things seem NOT to point to such a wonderful concept?
- Bob
First and foremost – every blessing we have in this life and the life to come is all in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ. With that said…
John 1:16 (ESV) — 16 For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.
Colossians 2:9–10 (ESV) — 9 For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, 10 and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority.
Colossians 2:9–10 (KJV 1900) — 9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. 10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
Ephesians 1:3–6 (ESV) — 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, 4 even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.
Secondly, Consider, how the Lord Jesus Christ does things… He is NOT stingy
- Feeding of the 5K
- Fishing results – overflowing nets & 153 large fish
Ephesians 3:20–21 (ESV) — 20 Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
Third, consider the future blessings that are ours because of the victory over sin, satan, and death… by the Lord Jesus Christ
Romans 8:18 (ESV) — 18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.
1 Corinthians 15:19 (ESV) — 19 If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied.
1 Corinthians 2:9 (ESV) — 9 But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”—
We may not be experiencing now what we think is the fullness of blessing but what we have as our status before God, and what He has for us in the future, along with the comfort, help, and encouragement that is ours now is really “FULLNESS OF BLESSING”
- JT – Question Two… “FROM THE MENTAL ASPECT”
What happens and how do we get out of the “pessimistic” attitude that often comes over us when we cannot grasp the “FULLNESS OF BLESSING?”
- Bob
What happens is that we’ve lost sight of the prize that is ours – not by our good works or merit but simply out of the grace of God in the Lord Jesus Christ.
John 1:14–16 (ESV) — 14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. 15 (John bore witness about him, and cried out, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me ranks before me, because he was before me.’ ”) 16 For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.
How do we get it back or get it to begin with?
“turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full into His wonderful face, and the things of the is world will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace.”
Romans 10:8–10 (ESV) — 8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); 9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
Philippians 3:13–14 (ESV) — 13 Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
JT adds his take…
- (JT) Third Question …. Turning to the physical aspect of life….
It’s a great time of the year to take our exercising to the next level by making a periodic schedule or “annual training plan” so let’s discuss the process and how that is beneficial.
Bob: OK I’ll throw out some ideas and you jump in with your take because I know we’ve talked about this in training many times as we’ve trained together over the years…
- THE WHY – consider taking something as important as physical training. Would something that is going make such a big difference in your life be taken for granted that you can do anything significantly without a plan?
- Even though many people do – the point is this – it could be better with a plan.
- Also consider the fact our bodies are built on cycles and the more we cooperate with that cyclical principle the more we’ll achieve as in “riding the wave” instead of trying to swim upstream.
So, where to begin…
- Take a 12 month calendar
- Mark the dates of the significant events you want to do – race, challenges, etc.
- Mark the dates of things you know that would be “interference” with your physical goals – GOOD THINGS but things that create challenges (viz. vacations, family events, etc.)
- Assess your previous year – note the things that went well in accomplishing physical goals and things upon which you need to focus in the coming year
- Write out your physical goals in the coming year –
- Begin to create a training plan working in small increments to the time of the challenge you have on your calendar making note of the things you need to work on from last year.
- Be sure to accommodate the “interference dates” so that you are able to work around them and be sure to allow for build up, taper, and recovery from any events that you do.
- It’s simply a matter of building a grid based upon the things you want to accomplish into the time you have and making the most of that time in smaller cycles so you build, rest, and build some more.
Any other thoughts JT
BB & JT discuss ---
Bob’s final comment – It takes discipline ….
