BB – We are talking today about “We Need One Another”
So JT What does that title bring up to your mind? ((JT ANSWERS))
- Bob – POINT: There is no justification for the concept of lone ranger Christians, those who say they don’t need the local church.
John 13:34–35 (ESV) — 34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. 35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
TODAY --- “We Need One Another”

- JT – Question ONE - FROM THE SPIRITUAL SIDE OF LIFE….
Why do you think participation in the local church seems to be on the decrease?
- Bob
The pleasure of sin seems good for a season! (((JT INTERUPTS – “THAT’S PRETTY STRONG BOB)))
It’s strong and true.
Hebrews 11:24–26 (ESV) — 24 By faith Moses, when he was grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, 25 choosing rather to be mistreated with the people of God than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. 26 He considered the reproach of Christ greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking to the reward.
Hebrews 2:1 (ESV) — 1 Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it.
Hebrews 2:3 (ESV) — 3 how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was declared at first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who heard,
Hebrews 3:12–13 (ESV) — 12 Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. 13 But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.
Hebrews 10:24–25 (ESV) — 24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
Neglect --- Backslide --- hardened by sin
DISCUSSION
- JT – Question Two… “FROM THE MENTAL ASPECT”
What is an appropriate mental strategy to make the most of the “one another” principle?
- Bob
First, know that the “one anothers” in the Bible are there for a reason. We need other people… for accountability, for help, encouragement, comfort, and for participation in fulfilling the call of Christ.
2 Corinthians 1:3–5 (ESV) — 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 5 For as we share abundantly in Christ’s sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.
Romans 12:15 (ESV) — 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.
Secondly, realize we are stronger when we are connected than we are when we try to be a “lone ranger.” We need others.
Thirdly, others need us…
This is God’s design. Instead of fighting it – submit to it and be part of the body of Christ in the local church.
Discussion
- Third question … Turning to the Physical
How can a person tell if they are not recovering well from physical training and the real question is what can a person do in that situation?
- Bob ---We have all been there and done that … and the first thing is admit that this might be happening… instead of denying it.
In summary, if you’re experiencing any of the following, you might want to rethink the importance of your recovery routine:
- Plateaus in performance
- Resistance to weight loss
- Fatigue
- Low Heart Rate Variability
- Frequent soreness, stiffness, or injuries
Solution… Reduce your training volume.
Incorporate more active or passive recovery days. Sleep in. Maybe take a few weeks off, if you’re really feeling bad.
If “taking it easy” is less than appealing, there’s another solution that will allow you to maintain your training schedule while still helping your body recover.
Added protein. It can help your body recover better.
What say you JT?
JT comments
Bob’s final comment – It takes discipline to apply common sense approach to recovery by backing off some – or approaching recovery as seriously as you do training BUT the evidence is there. You’ll make greater gains in the long run.
Point: DISCIPLINE MAKES THE DIFFERENCE --- in all aspects of life
