  1. JTQuestion ONE - FROM THE SPIRITUAL SIDE OF LIFE….

How do we keep an eye on the future …. OR heaven, if you please without being one of those people who are so heavenly minded there no earthly good?

  1. Bob & JT discuss

Colossians 3:1–4 (ESV) — 1 If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. 3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

1 John 3:1–3 (ESV) — 1 See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 2 Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. 3 And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure.

2 Corinthians 4:17–18 (ESV) — 17 For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, 18 as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

2 Peter 3:13–14 (ESV) — 13 But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. 14 Therefore, beloved, since you are waiting for these, be diligent to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace.

  1. JT – Question Two… “FROM THE MENTAL ASPECT”

How can we prepare mentally to have this positive attitude?

  1. Bob & JT discuss

Ephesians 1:9–10 (ESV) — 9 making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ 10 as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.

Ephesians 3:3–6 (ESV) — 3 how the mystery was made known to me by revelation, as I have written briefly. 4 When you read this, you can perceive my insight into the mystery of Christ, 5 which was not made known to the sons of men in other generations as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit. 6 This mystery is that the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.

Ephesians 3:9–11 (ESV) — 9 and to bring to light for everyone what is the plan of the mystery hidden for ages in God, who created all things, 10 so that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places. 11 This was according to the eternal purpose that he has realized in Christ Jesus our Lord,

Ephesians 5:32–33 (ESV) — 32 This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church. 33 However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.

Ephesians 6:18–20 (ESV) — 18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, 19 and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak.

Acts 17:10–11 (ESV) — 10 The brothers immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea, and when they arrived they went into the Jewish synagogue. 11 Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.

James 1:21–23 (ESV) — 21 Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. 22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror.

  1. Third question … Turning to the Physical

What is the best thing to eat, before, during, and after workouts?

  1. Bob & JT discuss
  • It depends on the workout – the time of day, the duration of the workout and the intensity of the workout.
  1. Eat light before any heavy workout – in intensity or duration. If you eat a substantial meal 2 hours prior, then you may want a snack of some sort but you have enough in you from the last meal even if that meal was the night before.
  2. A small snack will do if you are working out in the early morning hours just to build up your glycogen levels so you won’t bonk.
  3. Caffeine before your workout is a good thing, unless you are drinking that coffee before you workout in the evening.
  4. Stick to water, maybe some electrolytes without sugar during the workout, unless you are going for more than an hour, then again it’s a small snack
  5. Post workout – don’t forget to hydrate BUT don’t overeat --- especially watch the post workout smoothies that are full of carbs.

Any other thoughts JT?

Bob’s final comment – It takes discipline to apply yourself to working out but also to not overeating before, during, and after a workout. It’s great to burn the calories but discipline and common sense about reloading… will help you achieve your goals.

Point: DISCIPLINE MAKES THE DIFFERENCE --- in all aspects of life
