BB – We are talking today about … “Calling All Intercessors”…
So JT What does that title bring up to your mind?
- Bob – POINT: The point is simple – we are all called to be intercessors, whether we feel like it or not… There are no special qualifications other than being willing to devote some time to the ministry of intercession – praying for others.
1 Timothy 2:1–3 (ESV) — 1 First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, 2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. 3 This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior,
- JT ------ OK THEN LET’S TALK SOME MORE ABOUT THAT as we bring up… WHAT’S NEW – as we open Bob’s recent blog from bobbrubaker.com …

- JT – Question ONE - FROM THE SPIRITUAL SIDE OF LIFE….
Why is it so hard to pray and intercede for others? (((JT talks about his experience of trying to lead a time of prayer at his old church)))
- Bob & JT discuss
- It’s spiritual warfare….
Ephesians 6:10–18 (ESV) — 10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. 14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. 16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; 17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, 18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,
1 Timothy 2:1–3 (ESV) — 1 First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, 2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. 3 This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior,
- It’s easier to criticize and complain than to devote yourself to intercession.
It takes discipline….
Luke 9:23 (ESV) — 23 And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.
Hebrews 7:25 (ESV) — 25 Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.
((Jesus in the next room praying…))
- JT – Question Two… “FROM THE MENTAL ASPECT”
Let’s talk about the “how to” of being an intercessor --- where do we begin?
- Bob & JT discuss
Plan Of Action
- Specific place and time
- Necessary tools
- Bible – prayer list (folder) – people you know, people from the church, people in government – people with needs – missionaries, etc.
((watch your attitude change when you see people for whom you are praying…))
- How would it be to be known as the person who intercedes?
- (JT) Third Question …. Turning to the physical aspect of life….
How do you keep physical training from becoming a chore?
- Bob and JT discuss…
- Variety
- Break up your training regimen
- Achievable goals and celebration
- Workout with others
Bob’s final comment – It takes discipline ….
Point: DISCIPLINE MAKES THE DIFFERENCE --- in all aspects of life
