  1. Bob – POINT: We all experience times of dryness or even darkness, especially when we are awaiting an answer from God for something for which we are praying…

Luke 18:1–8 (ESV) — 1 And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart. 2 He said, “In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor respected man. 3 And there was a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, ‘Give me justice against my adversary.’ 4 For a while he refused, but afterward he said to himself, ‘Though I neither fear God nor respect man, 5 yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will give her justice, so that she will not beat me down by her continual coming.’ ” 6 And the Lord said, “Hear what the unrighteous judge says. 7 And will not God give justice to his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them? 8 I tell you, he will give justice to them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”

JT – Question ONE - FROM THE SPIRITUAL SIDE OF LIFE….

 

In your PowerBreak article you covered some reasons why it seems that God turns away from us as we pray … as we await His answer. Take us through those reasons againa.

  2. Sin – We can’t have fellowship with God if there is unconfessed sin in our lives for which we have not repented.

Psalm 66:18 (ESV) — 18 If I had cherished iniquity in my heart, the Lord would not have listened.

  1. God has a higher purpose in mind…

 

Luke 11:11–13 (ESV) — 11 What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; 12 or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

Romans 8:26 (ESV) — 26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.

DISCUSSION

  1. JT – Question Two… “FROM THE MENTAL ASPECT”

How can we mentally overcome the feeling of feeling like God has turned away from us?

  1. Bob

Psalm 34:15 (ESV) — 15 The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous and his ears toward their cry.

Hebrews 13:5–6 (ESV) — 5 Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” 6 So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”

Discussion

  1. Third question … Turning to the Physical

Let’s. talk about PRE-HAB AND REHAB… it seems to be something you talk about often when helping people prepare for surgery. What’s that all about?

  1. Bob ---

First there are sometimes, due to injury that this concept is not possible BUT I found in my knee replacement surgeries that my effort in PREHAB enabled me to get to REHAB much sooner and mad the time in REHAB more effective.

Here’s the concept… whatever kind of surgery look up on line what the rehab would be like and begin to the stretches, and other movements before the surgery. Again this may not be possible for all surgeries but for many there is the opportunity to do REHAB as PREHAB so when you get to REHAB you are in familiar territory.

Bob’s final comment – It takes discipline to approach surgery doing REHAB as PREHAB but the rewards are great…

 

Point: DISCIPLINE MAKES THE DIFFERENCE --- in all aspects of life
