BB –  We are talking today about  “Don’t Be Stiff-necked”

So JT What does that title bring up to your mind? ((JT ANSWERS))

  1. Bob – POINT:  We so easily fall into the trap of stubbornness, or as the Bible calls it being stiff-necked. The problem is that if we allow it to take over, we soon backslide as we neglect important means of God leading us, growing us, and blessing us.

Deuteronomy 10:16 (ESV) — 16 Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no longer stubborn.

TODAY --- Don’t Be Siff-necked.

  1. JT ------ OK THEN LET’S TALK SOME MORE ABOUT THAT as we bring up… WHAT’S NEW –  as we open Bob’s recent blog from bobbrubaker.com …

  1. JT This is the PowerBreak Podcast, I’m JT along with Bob Brubaker and this is the –– time for some questions and answers. Feel free to submit your questions by EMAIL TO JT@bobbrubaker.com and we’ll get to the answer on an upcoming PowerBreak. Podcast…

Why are we so apt to be so stubborn or as you called it be so stiffnecked?

  1. Bob

PRIDE – it’s part of original sin that we inherited.

Romans 5:12 (ESV) — 12 Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned—

Adam demonstrated his pride in deciding he knew more than God so he rebelled against God by doing what He said not to do.

All subsequent sin is a refusal to follow God’s law written in our hearts and like the infant who braces himself in rebellion against his parents so we brace ourselves against God and refuse to do what He clearly says to do.

James 4:17 (ESV) — 17 So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.

Like the children of Israel we all decide to rebel against God and put up a fight instead of doing what He says.

  1. JT – Question Two… “FROM THE MENTAL ASPECT”

What is an appropriate mental strategy to avoid being a stiff-neck?

  1. Bob

Take serious the word of God…

Mark 12:29–31 (ESV) — 29 Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

John 2:5 (ESV) — 5 His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”

  1. Third question … Turning to the Physical

Is it better when exercising to drink water or a drink as in flavor and or hydration, electrolyte supplement?

  1. Bob & JT discuss

According to Brian Frank from Hammer Nutrition, it really doesn’t matter, so drink what you will drink. Of course if your drink as in something other than water includes carbs when you really don’t need it it, then you may not really need the calories. But the key is to drink …. And if that means adding some  flavor to keep your GI tract interested then add some flavor… if you are not getting electrolytes from another source then by all means add a drink with electrolytes.

Important that for water drinkers, it’s important to keep the water cool which may be a problem the longer  you go. You know that drinking lukewarm water is a way to make yourself really sick. And it’s hard to get it down… which means when your water turns lukewarm you will probably forsake it and that’s not good.

  • Any other thoughts JT?

Bob’s final comment – It takes discipline train yourself to drink during exercise… which means you experiment which is better water or a drink mixture. The bottom line it’s better to drink than to dehydrate.

Point: DISCIPLINE MAKES THE DIFFERENCE --- in all aspects of life
